It becomes acidic during absorption, dude.
This device has worked — and still is working — for me. I don’t understand how you don’t *get* that, or even how you think your theory is going to somehow invalidate my experiential results.
You, on the other hand, think it’s “snake oil” and yet you never stated whether or not you tried it out first hand.
p/s: and, yes, my body ph has moved towards alkalinity as I began drinking alkaline water.

@gaiaperfumes Do you sell these? I don’t have an “axe to grind”; I simply know these devices are snake oil and am asserting the same out loud. Your explanation, btw, begs the question: how does it lower the body’s acidity if it becomes acidic BEFORE IT IS ABSORBED? You don’t really understand how ph is regulated by the body, do you? Tell you what- get some ph strips, then the next morning test your FIRST urination with them. Then come back and tell us the results…..

Also, notice how you try to debunk this claim by making it a requirement that the alkaline water has to retain its alkalinity in the GI. Of course it doesn’t have to retain its alkalinity!
It’s meant to be absorbed by the body, lowering the body’s overall acidity just enough so that the body doesn’t overproduce uric acid, for example.
In the process of doing so, the water WILL become acidic, of course.
Bottom line: it seems to me you have some axe to grind. Mine is an honest testimony.

You may have heard the phrase: “all other things being equal”…
You see, after I started drinking this alkaline water, without changing my dietary/exercise habits (or, for that matter, undertaking any other significant changes), my gout went away.
Could it disappear “just because”?
Sure, why not. Stranger things have happened in life.
But I tell you: for this to occur “just because” would have to be a real coincidence. I also felt better, funny enough. Coincidence? I don’t think so.

@gaiaperfumes No, I can’t argue about WHEN it went away, but yes I most certainly CAN argue about WHY it went away. The only theory being asserted here is yours, incidentally……ionized water is snake oil, friend. The assertions about it’s effects do not stand up to even cursory observation. For example- please explain, IN DETAIL, how EXACTLY this water retains it’s high ph in the extremely acidic environment of the gastrointestinal system. I’d like to hear it…peace.

@homeostasis It is a fact that my gout went away after I started drinking alkaline water produced by the Athena Ionizer. That is a reality you cannot argue away with your theory.
Gout arises from TOO MUCH uric acid, and some bodies either naturally overproduce uric acid (such as mine), or overproduce due to an unhealthy lifestyle (i.e. too much meat and alcohol consumption combined with a lack of exercise).

My wife and I …
My wife and I bought this ionizing machine and we’ve been using it with the following results: (a) her allergies stopped immediately upon drinking alkaline water (they haven’t returned since) and (b) I no longer have gout if I regularly drink my alkaline water (gout arises usually due to over-acidity in the body). These facts speak for themselves.
